Marvelous Easter Egg found in DSi

This alone is worth the price of a DSi. If you leave your DSi idle at the voice recording selection screen for 45 seconds, it will use one of your voice recordings to do this.  I won’t go into much detail because it is too wonderful to spoil, but check out the video.

A little unrelated, but I was a little disappointed with the download animation on the shop channel. I was looking forward to a black-and-white Mario straight from Super Mario Land.

OK, because I have no life…

The key of the playback depends on the pitch of the original recording; speak or sing a higher or lower note, and the playback is correspondingly higher or lower.

Also, I’ve noticed that the “background instruments” (what would be percussion, etc) are easier to hear if you record a multisyllabic word. It seems the first syllable is used for the melody and other syllables for the rest of the medly.

At the very end you’ll hear the entire recording in order.

A whistle works very well. I bet if I found the right pitch it’d sound just like the real thing.

I’ll say it again: a whistle works very well. A high note gives you chimes, and a low note ends up sounding like a calliope.

    Clucking your tongue is interesting.

I’d kill for a tuba right about now.

That’s a hundred hours of play right there.

    Totally worth the money.
