Tatsunoko vs. Capcom could still see a North American release

It’s not uncommon for Japanese anime companies to license their various franchises to multiple companies for international releases. That’s what makes games featuring anime and manga characters, such as Jump Superstars or Tatusnoko vs. Capcom, so tricky to localize. Capcom’s business development and strategic planning vice president, Christian Svensson, doesn’t want you to assume it will never happen, though.

Do not rule [a Western release] out. That is all I can say right now. [...] We are still actively working on having that happen. I can’t say it’s happening definitively. I couldn’t give you a time frame, but as badly as the fans want it, we want to bring it.

Don’t break out your party hats yet, though. The team that made it isn’t exactly sitting on its collective hands, waiting for the command to get the game ready for a North American release.

To be fair, the team that did it is working on something else now, so actually also clawing back the resources to do a localised version, to make any changes that are needed to get through those licensing issues, these are all things that need to be aligned before we can actually profit from this happening.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s great and everything, but we all know what’s really important here. If a North American version does end up being a viable option, will they take this opportunity to add the horrifyingly absent Samurai Pizza Cats to the fighting roster?
