MotionPlus possibly due out by late June

Nintendo Power has a preview of Grand Slam Tennis that states that the game will be compatible with the Wii MotionPlus accessory, which it says is “due out prior to Grand Slam‘s release.” Grand Slam Tennis releases on June 18th.

This news raises some questions, however. The Wii MotionPlus was originally planned to be launched with Wii Sports Resort. You may have noticed that the game was mysteriously absent from Nintendo’s list of Spring releases. This, combined with the fact that the release date for Wii Sports Resort on Nintendo’s press site has been changed from “Spring 2009″ to a much more vague “2009,” leaves the strong impression that the game won’t be launching any time soon. So has Nintendo changed their plans for the MotionPlus, or did someone just make a mistake somewhere along the way? Time will tell.
