Nintendo attempts to promote math programs with free DS systems
Nintendo has partnered with MATHCOUNTS, a math competition program for kids in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades, to help increase membership in school math clubs. MATHCOUNTS will randomly select four schools with at least 12 members in their MATHCOUNTS clubs and award them each with 20 DS systems with copies of Personal Trainer: Math, courtesy of Nintendo. MATHCOUNTS executive director Lou DiGioia is optimistic about the impact the training program can have on students:
Math teaches kids how to solve problems creatively and develop critical-thinking skills that will help them in the future. Personal Trainer: Math will be another helpful tool that students in our programs can use to make learning mathematics fun, exciting and challenging.
