Dragon Quest IX gets delayed until July

dqix-se-delayed

Square Enix has decided to push back the release of Dragon Quest IX in Japan from March 28 to July 11, citing bugs and game flaws as the culprit. While this is a bit of a disappointment, with no concrete release date for North America (or anywhere else in the world for that matter) it’s not too upsetting. Plus, more time to work on the game ensures a better gaming experience, right? Let’s just hope we are able to get our covetous hands on the game before the end of 2009.

And just yesterday I picked up an unloved copy of DQIV at Circuit City. The Final Fantasy titles didn’t survive the 20% discount, but there were still copies of this poor little game now that games had been marked down 30%…

… which finally brought it down below the $30 price point. Stupid Square-Enix Flagship Title Tax!

And how about some Virtual Console lovin’ while you’re at it? Instead of having this port of a PSX remake sitting on shelves unpurchased at $40, why not just slap the NES original on the VC as a $5 or even $6 download?

Squenix has basically said they won’t be putting anything on the Virtual Console they think is worth their time and to port or remake. If you think about it, that means the Mana series is probably pretty much dead at this point.
