When a console’s share of the market is as huge as that of the Wii, any game developer with any business sense is going to try to capitalize on its success. EA CEO John Riccitiello gets it, and recently announced that Electronic Arts will be shifting its focus on developing and publishing Wii games to 50%, stating “Nintendo is the leader; they’re getting half our emphasis in terms of title counts.” EA’s new goal is to “rival Nintendo on their own platform.” The Wii version of Dead Space is a nice start and hopefully an indicator that EA’s focus on the Wii won’t be in the same vein as Ubisoft’s, with their gross misuse of the letter “Z” and the word “party”.
