Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus announced for Wii

Aksys has announced Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (apparently attempting to take on Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for the “Ridiculously Long 2D Fighting Game Name” championship title) for the Wii, PS2, and PSP in North America. The game will essentially be an enhanced version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, which was an enhanced version of Guilty Gear XX Slash, which was an enhanced version of Guilty Gear X2 #Reload, which was an enhanced version of Guilty Gear X2, so apparently they’re planning on going after Street Fighter II’s treasured “Most Revisions Of One 2D Fighting Game” trophy, too.

It will feature the return of Kliff Undersn and Justice, bumping the total number of fighters up to 25. All of the characters will be available right from the start, and fans of the series “will finally be able to uncover the rich stories of each character for the first time.” (That means there’s a story mode.)

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus comes to North America this spring.

I'm afraid I'm out-of-touch when it comes to tournament fighters with silly names. Is this the one where the person in the habit is actually a dude?

And why is it that Capcom's big tournament fighter is called "Street Fighter," anyway? Shouldn't a game by that name involve "cleaning up the streets" like in Streets of Rage, Final Fight, or the venerable Double Dragon?
