Animal Crossing Wild World has sold a grand total of 5 million copies in Japan alone. This is the second game ever not bundled with a console to sell that many copies in the region, the first being New Super Mario Bros.. This doesn’t count combined sales of games like Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, which together have sold over 5 million, or Pokemon Red/Green/Yellow, which managed to pass 10 million combined. Still, this means Wild World is more successful than any Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy or Zelda game in Japan. That’s nothing to sneeze at.
The DS really does print money.
