Korean Wii knockoff makes its way to London shelves

I’d like to know how well these things actually sell. It’s a blatant Wii ripoff from Korea that sells for far less and I’m pretty sure it only includes a handful or so of sports games as its entire game library. Yet here we have photographic proof from a London store that this puppy was good enough to go international.

It’s a good thing Nintendo knew what they were doing when they decided to pick such an obscure name such as “Wii” and essentially create an identity for it. No one in their right mind would be tricked into thinking this is the real deal, though I’d like to meet those who think it’s an adequate alternative for their kids. Actually, no I wouldn’t.

Knock-off nothin’, I can still remember the local Best Buy last year fully stocking their endcaps with boxes that prominently displayed “Wii” on them; they were goofy/cheap accessory packages that just happened to be packaged in a box about the same size and shape as the box the actual (and sold-out) console came in. I still wonder how many people bought those things for kids/grandkids thinking they were actually getting a Wii.

Long story short, if it’s not the manufacturers, it’s the merchants that like ripping off customers with knock-offs and bait-and-switch tactics.
