If you’re Wii is having a problem reading discs, check to see that the Wii is plugged in, that you aren’t inserting the disc the wrong way, and that your Wii hasn’t broken in half after falling on the floor. If all of this checks out, check to see if you have a cigarette in your hand, or if you’ve simply kept the Wii in a dusty basement. If so, you might need have the disc-reading lens cleaned.
Luckily for all of you, you no longer have to send your console out to Nintendo, pay to have them clean it, and have it shipped back to you every time you encounter the same problem. The Nintendo Online Store is now selling the lens cleaning kit for a mere $9.99, which isn’t bad to just have a means of doing maintenance work on your Wii from time to time.
