Tony Hawk embracing new directions for ‘Adrenaline’

The Tony Hawk’s series has rolled downhill over the years, with the latest bail being last year’s Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground. We won’t be getting a new Tony Hawk’s game this year (a first since the series’ debut in 1999) unless you count the DS spin-off, Tony Hawk’s Motion.

Instead, Activision and Tony Hawk are hard at work to make sure the next installment, tentatively named Tony Hawk’s Adrenaline, lives up to the franchise’s earlier standards. The 40-year-old skate legend had this to say:

We’re working on a new type of game, and I’ve been even more involved in this one than I have been in the last five games. It’s a real departure for us. It’s a whole new direction for us. And it’s going to be way more realistic and way more interactive. I’m really proud of it. I can’t tell you much more about it, except that it will come out in the fall 2009.

Now the question is, is it going to be coming to the Wii? You’d think with claims such as “way more realistic” (Wii Balance Board) and “way more interactive” (Wii Remote/MotionPlus), the Wii would be a shoe-in. And yet, it might not be…
