Club Nintendo opens for business, forgets to unlock doors

Club Nintendo is now accepting registrations. If you already have a My Nintendo account, you can transfer it over to the new service, along with your registered games. Registered games earn you coins, which you can spend on some pretty sweet prizes, including styluses, game cases, and games. Well, game. Singular.

All games published by Nintendo from now on will earn you coins, as well will some games that have already been released. (Check after the break for a list of those games.) Wii games can be registered for 50 coins, DS games for 30 coins, and Virtual Console/WiiWare games for 10 coins.

Sound good? Well, don’t get too excited. A lot of people (including this heartbroken writer) have been having trouble logging into the site. I, for example, can transfer my account over, but not log in. Let’s hope these problems are fixed quickly. I want to claim my freebies.

None of my games were included to the new account.

  • lz2008

It also won’t let me re-register my games, so this might be a system error.

  • http://creditfeed.blogspot.com/ Rhody

Yeah, I’m thinking that’s what it is. Things are really buggy right now. If they’re not there once everything is straightened out, though, email Nintendo. That’s what I’ll do. :P Not much point in transferring your account over if none of your stuff is registered.

  • continuo

It would be great if the games you had already registered will earn you coins … It just wouldn’t seem fair if you had already registered the games before and didn’t earn coins, but yet people who waited to register their games now would earn coins. There’s really no difference.

  • lz2008

I would give them a couple of days to work the bugs out.

  • http://www.lonely-soda.com RF Larke

    …The link is broken, btw.

  • http://creditfeed.blogspot.com/ Rhody

Whoops. Don’t know how that happened. *fixes*

  • Ryan

    @ALL

You can get coins for your previously registered games. You just have to make sure that you complete the survey for each one. =)

  • lz2008

Where do we complete the surveys for games already registered?

  • boopev

damn amazingly i almost have as many games as you Rhody, but i have the same problem. i’m registered, but i can’t log in. *pouts*

  • lz2008

Where is the list of previously registered games? According to my account, I have none.

  • http://creditfeed.blogspot.com/ Rhody

boopev: How do you know how many games I have? :P

lz2008: Yeah, I’m thinking that’ll be ironed out with the rest of the bugs. There’s not much point in transferring your account over from MyNintendo if you’re not going to transfer over your registered games as well, right?

  • lz2008

got that right. I should have at least 600 coins.

  • continuo

    I can’t even log in anymore …

well, if someone has any luck, and is able to redeem previously registered games, let us know!

    =)

  • lz2008

Hey! I finally got a list of all my games!

  • lz2008

Is it just me or are none of the virtual console and wiiware games listed made by Nintendo

  • continuo

the only WiiWare games I have are Tetris Party and Dr. Mario Online Rx … and only Tetris Party is listed … even though it’s not published by Nintendo.

    ???

yet, Dr. Mario Online Rx is published by Nintendo, but it is not listed.

and none of my Virtual Console games are listed, and they are all published by Nintendo.

maybe … they didn’t get around to them yet???

  • http://creditfeed.blogspot.com/ Rhody

It looks like the list of downloadable games only contains the games released since October. Dr. Mario game out over the summer.

  • continuo

    but that’s still weird.

  • Ryan

    @continuo

I’ve been able to get coins for my previously registered games…It just takes quite a few tries of entering data for the surveys.

  • continuo

yeah, I tried doing the surveys … but then I receive that “page not found” page on their site when it tries to load a survey.

maybe it’s just so flooded with users trying to access the site.

    =/

  • JAREDJR

Once you log in, you can check the My Account Settings tab to see a list of all of your registered products. Gamecube/GBA/Virtual Console/Wii Ware games don’t seem to fall under the reward points system. The site is really busy during the day because everyone is on it but I managed to complete all of my surveys after midnight.

  • Ryan

ok….so who has the most points?

  • http://creditfeed.blogspot.com/ Rhody

According to my calculations, I should have 680 coins once everything gets sorted out.

  • lz2008

don’t count your coins before you get them. the system still left out some of my games. I should have 560 points but only got 450 points

  • http://creditfeed.blogspot.com/ Rhody

They should all be there when everything gets fixed. Though you have to email them about downloaded games.

  • lz2008

I definitely don’t have the most points, though. At least I got Gold Status

  • continuo

    @ JAREDJRon

    I have Tetris Party listed.

The only things that aren’t listed are my Virtual Console games and Dr. Mario Online Rx.

  • JAREDJR

Okay yeah, I missed something from the website:

There are three easy ways to earn Coins!

Register a Wii or Nintendo DS game and complete a quick survey.
    Wii games = 50 Coins
Nintendo DS games = 30 Coins
Wii Shop Channel games/Wii Channels = 10 Coins

Indicate your intent to buy a game and you’ll earn 10 extra Coins after you buy it, register it and complete the survey.
Register a Nintendo game and complete a quick survey within 4 weeks of its launch and earn an additional 10 Coins!
The more games you register and surveys you complete, the more Coins you earn! Please note that not all games can be registered and not all registered games will qualify for a survey.

Most of my virtual console games haven’t appeared yet though.

  • continuo

    just registered my games …

although it lists Tetris Party, it won’t let me take a survey. so, there’s no way to earn coins from registered games unless it allows you to take a survey.

    oh well.
