VGL Treasure Ship #11 - No one wants tickets?

Published by Christian at 9:42 am
Tags: The Treasure Ship

Of all the people who have gained points so far for the Video Games Live tickets, only one of you has expressed a little bit of interest in winning the tickets…and that person decided it wasn’t worth the 8-hour drive, considering the winner is announced at noon and the show starts at 8pm. Basically, no one’s in line to win yet.

The winner will be entitled to two tickets to tonight’s Video Games Live concert at 8pm at the Chicago Theatre. Of course, the winner can opt to split the two-ticket prize with the runner-up… that’s his/her choice. In order to win them, though, you need to email us your name and intent to win to thetanooki[at]thetanooki[dot]com immediately!!

Anywho, here’s the next Treasure Ship post. We’ll go back to images for a while, since music seems too hard :P Name the game!

Honestly, the prizes are pretty limited. I mean, a concert in a city that few of us are near/interested in and nothing else? No offense, but that’s not much incentive.

To be honest I’d have participated in several of these (I knew the answers to the first several) but I figured if all there was in it was tickets I’ll never use, there’s no point.

By the way, whatever happened with the last Treasure Ship? I was under the impression that it wasn’t over.

It’s not. I might have mentioned this in a previous Treasure Ship post, but the previous one isn’t over, and unless Matt deems otherwise, those points are still good after this VGL Treasure Ship is over. I figured, why give the current leader a prize he or she never anticipated when it’s, as you said, limited to a single city? Plus, we tried to spread the word out about this one since we knew only a tiny fraction of our readers are from the Chicago area, and it wouldn’t be fair to them to know they’re already a handful of points behind to start.

All those old Treasure Ship points should carry over after today, so no worries. At this point, I’m still debating whether or not points to the non-winner of this VGL Treasure Ship will also carry over.

    …and another point for cake3412!

Also, I think the main problem that leads to the lack of interest in the tickets is the fact that the concert is so last minute. Perhaps if the contest was last week and the winner could have made plans to actually go, it would have more interest. I dunno, just my two cents. I’m just playing for fun because I don’t particularly have anything to do today, there’s definitely no way i can make it from California to Chicago (even though I would LOVE to see a VGL concert someday) :-P

Oh, definitely, if we knew how many tickets we had, we’d have done this ages ago. We were only expecting tickets for our Chicago staff, but found out last night that we had plenty more.

Very sad, I hope the tickets don’t ultimately go to waste :-( Also, I hope that you run a similar concert for whenever they come to San Francisco :-)

That all depends on what we’re given :P

Wait, why did the last Treasure ship never end? It’s been like a year.

I loved that game as a kid!
