I think I may do the same thing with this. It's fantastic. :P I don't know how easy it would be to figure out the pattern, though. I'm a crochet n00b. Side thought, ever since I started looking up random pieces of Mario arcana on the intarwebs, I've wondered why they called it Kuribo's Shoe in North America when Kuribo is just the Japanese name for Goombas.
