New Peggle: Dual Shot details come bouncing down from Q Entertainment

Remember those unknown features in the DS version of Peggle that were mentioned but never explained? Well they’ve been explained.

First, the small stuff. The entire HUD will be moved to the top screen, freeing up the bottom screen for nothing but pure Peggle love. Players will be able to aim with the stylus while zooming in on a specific area for added accuracy. There’s no official word on exactly which levels will be included, but screenshots show stages from both Peggle and its sequel, Peggle Nights.

Now for the interesting bits. As you hit purple pegs (purple pegs are worth more points), you’ll collect stars. Once you have five stars, you’ll be able to play a new mini game called “Underground”, which has kind of a pinball feel to it. You tap diamonds with your stylus to make them pulsate to bounce your ball to collect gems. If you manage to collect all of the gems, you get to keep them and trade them in for 15 brand new Q-themed levels. (I want my Meteos levels!)

Expect Peggle: Dual Shot in early March. In the meantime, 1up has some screenshots to tide you over.
