Rock Band 2 may be out by Christmas, definitely by New Years

The release window for Rock Band 2 has gotten narrower. Don’t get your hopes too high about finding a giant box of toy instruments under your tree this year, however. (Unless it’s a box of Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments.) Harmonix has confirmed with Destructoid that the game is set to release in “Late December.”

How late? That’s still a mystery. Some time between the 20th and 31st, I would guess. Either way, the demand for this game will most definitely be greater than the supply. Expect lots of sad faces this Christmas morning.

What a bad strategy, you’d think they’d work their butts to get this out by christmas…

Well we know where Harmonix’s loyalties lay. Vicarious Visions has proven that it’s possible to make a game release on the same date as the 360/PS3 counterparts, with all the same, if not more features.

Rock Band was rushed into release for the 360 to beat the release date for Guitar Hero, which was fine since it was ready, but obviously all of the peripherals and the Wii/PS3 games were not, considering the only available Rock Band product at launch was RB2 for the XBox, which may cause RB2 to win on the 360 but the Guitar Hero world tour package for the Wii (and every console) is out RIGHT NOW!
I own a Wii and a 360, have RB2 for the 360, and am saying “shame on you Harmonix.”

The Rock Band 2 Bundle is available for the 360 and Ps3 and has been for a couple weeks now.
