Wii shortages could be nearing their end

In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, Bob McKenzie, the vice president of merchandising for Gamestop, was asked about the state of the Wii in accordance to the holiday season coming up. Surprisingly, he was very optimistic.

…it will be much, much better than it has been the last two years. I can’t say we will be in stock every day throughout the holiday season but I can tell you that the current flow we’ve seen coming from Nintendo on Wii hardware makes us very confident that we will meet the business model that we’ve got…

Very reassuring for anyone still trying to track down a console, but I’m still a little skeptical. If systems can’t be found on shelves right now, how will the increasing demand over the holidays make them more available? Unless Nintendo allocates more to North America, or somehow increases production, I imagine the situation could be all too familiar.
