Pirates and Ninjas to finally settle the score on WiiWare

Published by Ryan
Tags: Gamecock, Nintendo Wii, Pirates VS. Ninjas Dodgeball, WiiWare

Considering it’s all the rage these days for internet junkies to post their opinion on who is “cooler” on a blog site between pirates and ninjas, most of us “Gamers” don’t bother wasting time posting mindless rants on the subject. We know that that the game Pirates VS. Ninjas Dodgeball will give us the ultimate answer. While this game has been previously confirmed for XBL, Gamecock president Harry Miller has stated:

The competition between the Pirates and the Ninjas is so huge that battles are breaking out all over. We’re happy to bring this grand conflict to the Wii, and give players the chance to help determine who the ultimate champions are.

So who would win in a fight, Raphael (The Ninja Turtle, not the painter/architect) or Long John Silver? While some lose sleep over that, I’m curious who would win in a dodgeball fight between a terminator or “Bub” from the original Day of the Dead movie. That’s right, you can also select robots and zombies as well!

Critters crowd WiiWare in Europe and Australia

Published by Christian

The Hanabi Festival brought some new import VC games to PAL gamers this week, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a WiiWare week in the rotation. Two WiiWare games are now available on the service, including Konami’s Critter Round-Up, and Nintendo’s MaBoShi puzzle game.

The latter is making its world debut, so I have nothing on the game yet… but Critter Round-Up was available in the States shortly after My Pokemon Ranch. They were about equally underwhelming.

  • MaBoShi: The Three Shape Arcade (Nintendo, 800 Wii Points)

Continuing the Hanabi Festival that brought you Super Mario RPG and The Lost Levels last week, two “new” import games are available to Wii owners in Europe and Australia. Both will be available for the premium price of 600 Wii Points, and the pair includes the NES version of the classic Dig Dug game.

  • Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa (NES, 600 Wii Points)

New DS rumors spring up again, and are quickly deemed speculation

Published by Pete
Tags: DS, DS redesign, rumors

The onslaught of redesign rumors has died down since E3 closed it’s doors without a reveal, until recently that is. This particular version sports, get this, two touch screens. That’s twice as much touching. Twice as much scratching, doodling, tapping, and scribbling as well. If I have to try and use two stylus (styli? Styluses? Styliuses?) my brain will explode.

It looks like that won’t be a concern, however, as Nintendo has already responded saying talk of a redesign is complete speculation. I don’t think this rumor is the real deal, but I still wouldn’t put a successor too far out of the picture. Especially with the way DS has performed in Japan lately.

Mike Tyson’s Punch Out: The Movie gets casted

I didn’t sleep very well last night because I was having trouble nailing down who would play Don Flamenco if Punch Out were made into a full length film. Ironically, look what showed up today at Asylum. A brilliant casting job for just that. Who would have thought about Adam Sandler? That’s brilliant. Check out the rest of the list if you don’t hate fun.

Moon site goes live

One of my personal most anticipated games, if not the most anticipated, for the DS now has a home on the web. Moon-game.com houses more of the creepy sounds and eerie environments that Moon is becoming famous for. The site includes a run down of a few vehicles, seven weapons (from pistols to sniper rifles to a corrosive acid throwing super machine), and some screen shots and videos. I suggest checking it out right now. Go.

TGS exhibitors get served… in a list

Published by Pete
Tags: exhibitor list, TGS 2008

With E3 and Leipzig out of the way, conference season is well under way. Of the few that are left on the schedule, TGS in early October probably has the most potential to hold a show-stopping announcement or two. Sure those chances still aren’t great, but I’ll take anything I can get at this point. The full list of participating companies after the break.

Another video from the vault, this time a short and sweet episode. Use of any techniques seen in the clip are not in anyway endorsed or encouraged by The Tanooki. Common side effects include loss of friends, getting your way, cancer, and water-balloonings. You have been warned.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop Trailer in “Bloody” form

Published by Ryan
Tags: Capcom, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, Nintendo Wii

While there are many haters these days with their “OMG…the Xbox grafix are better” comments floating around the web, I know that there are plenty of you out there that are excited about the Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop port. While the trailer above doesn’t show hundreds of zombies on the screen, just remember that this is an early build and Capcom has stated that they have a goal to provide at least 100 simultaneous zombies on the screen. This trailer also shows a few new enemies as well as the first look into the “Resident Evil 4” engine/controls.

Along with the new enemies, engine and controls, Chop Till You Drop will also feature other changes such as multiple save slots, camera options, and motion controls for various weapons. I just hope that they put a muzzle on Otis, he is the one of the reasons why I never finished the XBOX 360 version.
