Judge orders ban on US sales of Classic Controller

Following Nintendo’s loss in a $21 million lawsuit by Anascape, Public Enemy #1 Ron Clark has issued a ban on the US sales of the GameCube controller, the WaveBird wireless controller, and the Wii Classic controller – all three of which violate Anascape’s patent according to the ruling. Nintendo will be allowed to continue sales of the Wii Classic controller while the ruling is appealed in a higher court, but the article reveals that Nintendo had previously ceased production of the WaveBird (which we knew) and the GameCube controller.

For those wondering, Sony did previously license the patent back in 2004, and Microsoft settled out of court. Better snatch up those Classic Controllers while you can or, heaven forbid, you’ll have to use the Nunchuk configuration in Brawl when your old controllers wear out!
