SEGA of America president hopeful for another Mario & Sonic game
Brian Crecente spoke with Simon Jeffery, president at SEGA of America, last week regarding Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. The games, available for Wii and DS, have sold roughly 10 million copies worldwide since launching last fall. That’s, umm… a success, to say the least. Take into consideration that the actual Games in Beijing next month should give both titles a sales boost, and you can assume why Mr. Jeffery would be excited.
With the first three Mario and Sonic crossover games printing all sorts of money for SEGA and Nintendo, you’d think another one might be all but set in stone in the future. Simon Jeffery seems all for it:
We would be delighted to do another game with Mario and Sonic.
Wonderful! Now let’s just remove the Olympic Games from the formula, make this in the style of a 16-bit platformer, and throw Mario into Green Hill Zone (and vice versa).
