Konami Press Conference - Live Blogs

One more big press conference for this show, guys. At least, I think I think it’s big. The same room is being used for Konami’s Press Conference starting at 4:30pm PDT that was used for Ubisoft and Capcom yesterday, but it was transformed into a series of small meeting rooms by this morning and was that way as of about 40 minutes ago. NOTE: There will not be a live feed broadcast for this press conference due to lack of demand and technical difficulties that aren’t worth the effort. You can still hang out at our Official E3 2008 Coverage Site to chat about the updates. Check past the break for all the live updates!
2:30 - Scheduled start time.
2:42 - Conference begins.
2:44 - Thanks sent out for support of Metal Gear Solid 4. Expansion packs available July 17th.
2:45 - Online Metal Gear Solid 4 tournament at San Diego Comic-Con next week.
2:46 - Linkin Park partnering with Konami for the band’s concert tour, promoting Konami’s Rock Revolution.
2:46 - Silent Hill: Homecoming for PS3/360 information to be provided later in the conference.
2:48 - Elebits for DS and Lost in Blue for Wii on the way.
2:49 - Castlevania producer comes on stage, and says he is nervous - it’s his first E3 in a while.
2:50 - Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia trailer shown. Main action shown - one screen only.
2:52 - Castlevania: Judgement trailer shown. Game available Fall 2008.
2:56 - The characters are brought together in a storyline where someone is trying to ruin the Castlevania timeline. There will be 14 playable characters - Alucard, Simon, Maria, and Dracula have all been revealed so far. The Nunchuk can be used to dodge, with the C button serving as a jump. The Wii Remote is used to swing the whip, which is the reason the game is a 3D fighter - the fans requested using the Wii Remote as a whip. Holding the B button while shaking triggers a strong attack, while a normal shake triggers a normal attack. Pressing A activates the character’s sub-weapon. Objects in the environment can be broken for enemies and/or used to attack enemies. For example, using Simon, you can squeeze A and B to pick up a candle stick and use it as a weapon. If the blue gauges are maxes, you can press down on the Wii Remote to activate the special attack, which requires precise timing.
5:06 - Jason Allen comes on stage to show a Silent Hill: Homecoming trailer. It is explained that Alex believes he holds key information crucial to the game. The game uses a free-look camera system to look anywhere you want. Havoc’s physics engine is used to keep characters grounded. First-person perspectives are used for short-range shooting.
5:11 - Grain filter used to distinguish the Hell world from the normal world. The dialogue scenes are designed to transition smoothly to and from cinematic scenes.
5:14 - Boss battle shown in demonstration.
5:17 - Lauren, the product manager for Rock Revolution comes on to introduce The Sheenas, an all-female Ramones tribute band.
5:21 - Lauren switches from playing bass in the band to playing guitar in Rock Revolution, fails, and ends the conference.
