…in Japan. CoroCoro magazine also confirmed some new details about Pokemon Platinum. The story is brand new, introducing a new character, bringing in Interpol, and allowing you to meet both Dialga and Palkia atop Spear Pillar. The new Battle Frontier (or Battle Island, or whatever it ends up being called) is now a part of the Battle Tower in the Fight Area, which will have new places to spend your Battle Points.
The Wi-Fi areas in each Pokemon Center basement now allow up to 20 players at a time, and sport a brand new Wi-Fi poffin-making minigame. The GTS in Jubilife has also been upgraded, now featuring a “Global Terminal.” You’ll also be getting a new item called a Battle Recorder, allowing you to record videos of your battles and share them with people online.
There are a few more details confirmed in the magazine, all regarding specifics about Giratina and Shaymin. You can read up on those and take a look at the newest screens after the break.
- Giratina will only appear in his new “Origin Forme” when in the Torn/Ruined World, and will remain in his “Another Forme” everywhere else. When in its Origin Forme, Giratina’s ability is Levitate.
- The Grass/Flying “Sky Forme” of Shaymin checks in at 0.4m tall (1 ft, 4 in) and 5.2 kg (11.5 lbs) heavy. Its ability is Serene Grace, with boosted speed and special attack stats.
- In order to actually transform Shaymin into the new Sky Forme, it first needs to be obtained by Pokemon Diamond or Pokemon Pearl at the movie event going on now (or by D/P/P at any future Shaymin event) and traded to Platinum. The Flower of Glacidea, obtained in Floarama Town, must then be used on Shaymin.
