Nintendo doesn’t think “Beer” is appropriate for the Wii

Beer Pong, a game that has been enjoyed for decades amongst the college student population is going to make an apperance on Wii without all the hassle of setting up dirty red cups full of brown liquid. Unfortunately Nintendo had a problem with the concept and name of the game:

We had a little discussion with Nintendo and there were some angry parties. We didn’t expect that kind of response, just because we used the word ‘Beer”, just like you would hear in any movie or on TV.

The title will now be changed from Frat Party Games – Beer pong to Frat Party Games – Pong Toss. Considering that the Wii already has a title called Manhunt, is really necessary to remove the word “Beer” from the title? I wonder what other classic Frat games will be next. Underwater Basket Weaving? Or my personal favorite, Mattress stair surfing.

Really? ANY movie? You mean the word “beer” is in every movie ever made?

I used to think that the video game industry was starting to grow up.. Look at the film and novel industries. Both are overflowing with adult material. Why is it that the general public refuses to accept video games as a serious business?

The problem is still mass market appeal. Until video games really crack the mainstream, it will remain the same.

Why does the quad in that picture look extremely familiar?
