That Wii with DVD movie playback that was promised for late 2007? Yeah, not happening anytime soon. They could certainly make one, and they definitely planned to make one long before the original SKU hit store shelves, but it’s just not the priority. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata had the following to say at a stock holder meeting:

With supply constraints [of the Wii] continuing worldwide, the priority is on the current model.

How many of you actually care about DVD playback on your Wii anymore? I’m pretty sure I have access to about a dozen DVD players at this very moment in case I wanted to watch a DVD…not that DVD cuts it anymore on the HD set!
