Zelda fan art deviates from realism

I don’t care what a lot of the “mainstream” players thought, I consider The Wind Waker‘s art style to be beautiful and an original/fresh take on the Zelda universe. DeviantArtist croix22 seems to have thought so as well, having drawn several other characters from the Zelda series in the style of the modern GameCube classic – only the fourth game to receive a 40/40 from Famitsu.

You can see some more examples of croix22′s work after the break and at croix22′s deviantART gallery, which I highly suggest you check out.

I agree, I really love that game. I don’t understand how anyone can criticize the art style when it can be so beautiful.

I can only echo the previous comments. Wind Waker was definitely one of my favorites. The art style didn’t detract from the game, quite the opposite in fact. I challenge anyone who bashes the art style to go play the first two dungeons, the boss battles in both are absolutely stunning.
