We’re well into June, and I’m sure a number of you high school band geeks are well into your fall marching seasons now. For this week’s concert, we’re heading outdoors to see the Laker Marching Band from Grand Valley State. Their 2006 show featured music from Halo, Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Wait, wasn’t Twilight Princess not yet available at the time?
Yeah, it’s your typical lineup for a video game marching show. As a future band director, you can bet the idea of a video game show has crossed my mind, but I’m definitely avoiding “video game music” and thinking more along the lines of “music that happens to be in a video game.” What would you pick for a show?
