Mega Man 9 confirmed for WiiWare release

The latest Nintendo Power has confirmed that Mega Man 9 will indeed be a WiiWare title, and that the game will be styled after the NES classics. Keiji Inafune apparently wanted to bring the series back to its roots now that “retro” is cool.

In the new game, Dr. Wily accuses Dr. Light as being behind the rampaging robots, and it’s up to Mega Man to clear Dr. Light’s name. Each themed area will feature one of several Robot Masters: Magma Man, Galaxy Man, Jewel Man, Concrete Man, Hornet Man, Plug Man, Tornado Man, and Splash Woman. Defeating them will, of course, grant you the use of some new weapons to use.

The game will be controlled NES-style, with the Wii remote on its side. We’ll hopefully be getting more details soon. I’m not the biggest Mega Man follower around here, but this sure is exciting!

Also my only beef with SplashWoman is that.. It could have at least been SplashGirl or something that rolls off the tongue a bit better.

    There goes classic Megaman."

    Sexist.

I feel that is wonderful news, I always wondered when a Woman Robot Master would come. Now it has.

    THIS IS AMAZING.
