It looks like representatives for The Beatles have begun talks with both Activision and MTV Games regarding the possibility of upcoming Guitar Hero and Activision games featuring songs by the Fab Four. A deal could be in reach within a few weeks, assuming they get the approval from Apple Corps and EMI.
Apple Corps’ board, which includes Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison, and Yoko Ono Lennon, finally allowed use of the group’s songs in both a Vegas show by Cirque du Soleil and American Idol. They haven’t yet approved digital distribution of the songs via iTunes.
I may have been a Beatles fan since earlier in my life than pretty much anyone my age, but I’m not sure even a Guitar Hero: The Beatles would get me to pick up those plastic guitars. Maybe the mic. Yes, definitely the mic.
