ESRB website looking to block leaks

080620beaver.jpgA lot of the game confirmations we get, especially Virtual Console games, come from rating sites for the BBFC, the OFLC, or the ESRB. A game gets a rating for release before the game is officially announced, and bam! – we know about it. Well, guess what? No more!

The ESRB is now updating its policy by giving publishers the option of keeping ratings info off the ESRB website until a date specified by the publisher. Of course, if the publisher chooses not to (or forgets to) specify a date, the rating will go up 30 days after being issued as usual.

Luckily, we’ll still have the OFLC to dig through and find treasure. You know, like Mega Man 9.
