Darkrai event at the Nintendo World Store is cancelled?

Earlier today I headed off to pick up my Darkrai and Deoxys event Pokemon at the Nintendo World Store and a nearby GameStop in New York City. After standing around the World Store for five minutes waiting for my DS to pick up the server so I could download my Darkrai with no success, I finally asked a worker what was going on and was incredibly disappointed; the event had been canceled. No specifics were given, but he said the event — that was supposed to last until the end of June — was canceled because of “server problems”. Whether or not the event will be resumed remains to be unknown, but as of now the event is indeed canceled. So, uh, does anyone want to trade me a Darkrai for a Staravia?
