This month’s NPD Data saw yet another hardware victory for Nintendo; their tyrannic rule over the console sales is no doubt frustrating their competitors. And despite the year head start, Nintendo is within 100,000 units of surpassing the Xbox 360′s 10.3 million install base in the United States. With Nintendo being able to meet the still-growing demand for their beloved console — I just now, after two years of its release, am starting to see Wii’s on retail shelves — I wouldn’t be surprised to see it leap past Microsoft after June’s NPD is released.
While Nintendo and Microsoft are neck and neck in hardware sales, the Playstation 3 sits at a humbling 4.5 million sold.
