Pokemon Platinum takes series into 3D

Published by Christian at 11:55 am

080612platina1.jpgEven more images from the upcoming entry into the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl series have popped up, along with a few details concerning the game. The “Torn World” area mentioned in the last update? It’s in isometric 3D as shown here, and you’ll find it above the Spear Pillar where you caught Dialga and Palkia in the previous games. Other new areas have been added as well, but no others have been specified.

Also, those new clothes we’ve seen Lucas and Dawn wearing are noticeably heavier. The reason is that Sinnoh has suffered a severe climate change for the colder, prompting the appearance of those two newly confirmed characters in the story to investigate.

Finally, there’s a screen after the break showing Shaymin’s Sky Forme during an in-game battle. Apparently the Sky Forme is the default in Platinum. Shaymin will switch back and forth between Land and Sky Formes when traded from Diamond/Pearl to Platinum, respectively.

More screens after the break.

[...] Platinum is in 3D! Unfortunately it’s only isometric 3D and only in a few areas, but hey - it’s progress. [...]
