A look at the Wii’s white Rock Band kit

I have yet to use one of these things. Even electronic drum sets feel more natural to me than the Rock Band kit, so I’ll leave playing the guitar and drum parts on these games to friends and take the microphone. Or something.

You can check out some pictures after the break of the set coming out this month for the Wii. It’s noticably white and sports the new and improved pedal spring. The USB dongle shown is presumably for the guitar (which is wireless), as IGN’s Nintendo team confirmed in their last podcast that the drums are still wired. With the drum cable and guitar dongle taking up both USB ports, where the mic was to go was anybody’s guess!

maybe the dongle is for the mic…i would assume that the wii remote would plug into the guitar again, what does everyone else think?

The Wii Remote is confirmed to NOT use the Wii Remote for Rock Band. It’s not made by the same company.

According to Casamassina, who actually has the game, the dongle pictured is for the guitar, the drums plug in via cable, thus taking up both USB ports.

Gotcha…did Casamassina say how the mic plugs in then? I’m confused…unless the dongle does that along with the guitar…

The USB dongle is for the guitar, while the drums are wired and plug into the other USB port. At the time Matt made those statements, they had not yet received the mic peripheral from EA, and were laughing about how they had no idea where it would go, since the USB ports were taken up.

I haven’t looked into updates yet, but my assumption is that it would use one of the GC ports.
