“Strong rumors” for an all new Nintendo game at E3

080611olimar.jpgWith casual gamer focus evident in games like Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit, and even Mario Kart Wii, you’ve probably even forgot about Brawl and Galaxy as reminders that Nintendo still cares about the “core gamer.” While it’s a given now that we’ll be seeing games like Kid Icarus this year along with Animal Crossing and Kirby in at least Japan, we may yet get another huge game this year (let’s face it, Kid Icarus ain’t for everyone), and it may be more original than you think. GamePro magazine’s Sid Shuman states:

“I’ve heard strong rumors that Nintendo is going to unveil an all-new game with all-new characters [at E3].”

I can’t think of a big new IP from Nintendo since Pikmin, and even that didn’t make a huge splash. If Nintendo does decide to reveal some new games and characters at E3, we’ll make sure you know.

Great! As a Nintendo fan, it’s so exciting to hear that there will be some games that Nintendo doesn’t focus on too much. What I’m trying to say, is that when Nintendo makes new series, it’s exciting because Nintendo rarely ever makes new series. Wha-hoo! Can’t wait for a possible Pikmin and a possible Kid Icarus!

Awesome!!! Dude, regardless of whether or not Pikmin made a huge splash or not, it is one of the few games that I still replay all the way through once a year.

Unfortunately, that does nothing for Nintendo from a commercial standpoint.

What about the Chibi Robo series? That was introduced after Pikmin, and teased in Smash Bros Melee.

I think Nintendo gave Chibi-Robo “the finger”, when they made the DS effort a Wal-Mart only exclusive.
