WiiWare games and the memory they consume

Sheesh. With all these VC games and now, WiiWare titles, we are going to soon be dry of our precious internal memory. Sooner or later it’ll be on the black market ala moonshine during the days of prohibition. We must learn to ration our space until Nintendo releases a first-party storage device or unlocks the SD Card slot. Hit the jump for the games and the amount of space they take up to help you manage your available memory.

Defend Your Castle
1-4 players
500 Wii points
121 blocks [121 needed]

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
1 player
1500 Wii points
287 blocks (8 save blocks) [287 needed]
Pay-to-Play
- Downloadable Content can add up to an additional 10 blocks for up to 1700 additional Wii points

LostWinds
1-2 players
1000 Wii points
258 blocks (1 save block) [259 needed]

Pop
1-4 players
700 Wii points
110 blocks (2 save blocks) [110 needed]
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection

TV Show King
1-4 players
1000 Wii points
290 blocks (1 save block) [290 needed]

V.I.P: Casino Blackjack
1-4 players
700 Wii points
207 blocks [207 needed]

Remember, folks, you can erase and redownload both VC and WiiWare titles if need be. An option I’ll definitely be utilizing in the coming months.

While the 512MB internal flash RAM is limiting the amount of games you can have at loaded on the system at once, it’s not preventing you from utilizing the SD card slot. Backing up VC/WiiWare channels to a SD card is really easy, and restoring the backups locally is much more efficient than having to download everything over and over again. You can pickup a 2GB SD card for less than $10.

    p.s. Lostwinds is excellent.

Still, I hope they release some kind of external memory. And yes, LostWinds is fantastic.
