Miyamoto talks of first person Ocarina of Time

The famed creator of many of Nintendo’s biggest franchises recently commented on the idea of a first person Zelda. During the development of Ocarina of Time, Miyamoto himself suggested the use of first person to further envelope the player as well as give the CPU a little break from rendering the character model the entire time.

Interesting to hear this from the big guy himself. Could this perhaps be what he meant when he said Twilight Princess was the last Zelda game of its kind?

I… Don’t like this idea. I mean I’m not entirely opposed to the idea of a new “flavor” of Zelda, so to speak, but I just don’t feel like First Person works with the series.

wouldn’t it be cool if they made 2 games? 1 in first person, the other would stay true to the LOZ name. Just like pokemon diamond vs pearl, red vs. blue, etc.

How about if they made one game that allowed you to choose between first or third person? You know, like racing games tend to do? I think that this would be the proper way to go about it, at least for the first one that they want to make into a first person game. Then they can get feedback and see if they want to continue with the first person view in future games.
