Toys R’ Us to have extra Wii’s this weekend

mkwii-toysrus.jpg

Toys R’ Us is, evidently, going to have more Wii’s in stock than ever before, according to an ad. Nintendo did mention that they were going to up production of Wii’s worldwide, but this quick? I doubt it. Perhaps Toys R’ Us saved some for the anticipated release of Mario Kart Wii this weekend; or maybe they just get pleasure out of torturing the still millions of people who’ve yet to purchase a Wii. Either way, you can pre-order both a Wii and Mario Kart Wii today.

By the time you’ve read this sentence Toys R’ Us will be out of stock–sorry.

Yeah bundles suck, but until the Sunday paper actually comes out, we don't know what Toys R Us is actually advertising. I do know that a couple weeks ago, my friend and his girlfriend both got Wii's by waiting in line at TRU. (One was for his little brother, one for himself) it was the day Smash Bros. came out.

Imagine being a parent who's been dying to get their hands on a Wii for their kid. You haven't been on the internet, and you wake up to the normal sunday routine of grabbing the paper to see who is going to have them in stock. You see TRU ad and you rush over to the store, waiting hours like all the other parents in the line. 4 hours after waiting, a manager comes to the door only to tell you that all the Wii's have been pre-ordered, and those people are sleeping in the comforts of their own home and intend on picking it up later on that day. Now I don't know about everyone else, but I'd be pissed. Yes I realize this is just hypothetical situation. But we've had something similar to this happen before. Also, for our location, I'm not too sure about all other locations, there's a catch. When you pick up your Wii, you also have to buy the package deal. A remote, a nunchuck, 2 games from a list of 5 (which includes Wii Play, Mario Kart, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, and 2 other titles I'm not too sure about.) Note, this isn't a "Oh you save $30 when you get this deal." It's a "We're forcing you to get all this whether you like it or not." Of course, corporate can still change their minds and not require stores to do this, but we live in a society fixated on greed, and I'm pretty sure that it's still going to happen.

But it makes it sound like they will have Wii's in stock at the store, which apparently isn't the case.

So your saying that they have to pay $200 in advance to pre-order the console? That doesn't seem like a bad thing to me.

I work for TRU, unfortunately, and they are holding them for Sunday. But there is a catch. You can only get one on Sunday if you put down a $200 deposit down on the console. Our location already sold all the consoles available. I apologize for holding consoles, but TRU is f***ing ridiculous. They like to toy (no pun intended) with the customers about Wii's. They can take a Wii Remote and shove it up their a**. I let anyone know when we're going to have them, unless they just intend on selling it for profit on ebay. Sorry, didn't mean to vent, best of luck on finding one on sunday for whoever on here has yet to get one!

Yeah Toys R Us and Best Buy are notorious for holding there stock of Wii's for a month or so and releasing them all on a Sunday. Making it seem like they just got some huge shipment.
