Zero Punctuation reviews Brawl
To some people, the delicious combination of Zero Punctuation and Brawl has more comedic potential than another Robin Williams HBO special. To everybody else, having Brawl fall under the wrath of Yahtzee is something they would rather avoid. Unless your name is Portal, you know that it’s going to get quite ugly once you hit that triangular “play” button above this block of text.
I know how much Brawl is loved around these parts, which is why I’m reluctant to share my thoughts about the game (my attempts to do so have resulted in public ridicule. Thanks, world), but let me just say that I agree with most aspects of this review. Now excuse me as I prepare the comment section for the swarm of angry readers that is sure to come.

He kind of contradicts himself several times (Talking about “That Guy” who’s too good to be any fun to play with moments after talking about being able to win against anyone by mashing buttons) and he makes a couple of stupid assumptions, like that Mother 3 would sell more than Mario Kart when Mother 2 was a commercial failure for Nintendo and Mother 3 sold less in it’s entire life than Mario Kart Wii sold in three days.
Stuff like that aside, I honestly didn’t find This ZP funny, which is too bad because pretty much every other video he’s posted has been a riot.
i am not the biggest nintendo fan or the biggest smash fan, but this review of the game is terrible. this game definitely does take skill and you can’t just win by smashing buttons. although i do agree that the subspace is the worst idea ever, standard brawls can are a lot of fun even if you are not very good. a good review would at least tell the good and the bad of the game so that someone could actually decide if they want to try it. instead, this is just a guy explaining why he hates smash and nintendo.
setting all of that aside… this was not funny at all and i am very easily amused.

I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say Not Safe For Work?
It was a very biased review, unfortunately for Yahtzee, it doesn’t look like he was able to get very good at it, or maybe it was the fact that none of his friends were any good. Either way, he really didn’t get a feel for the intense matches, or the true skill involved in playing the game.
I thought it was a good critique of some of Nintendo’s strategies, but at the same time, he’s clearly working out some early childhood demons. And maybe he’s resentful of the fact that everybody gets their games earlier than Australia. :(

This guy kills me! lol I love him. So true the comment about fighting games making you mad when someone can just mash the buttons while you took time to learn the system.
Yes, NSFW=Not Safe For Work (aka it’s got violence, language, sexuality, etc.).
And the review was pretty awful. Maybe if he had gotten to play it with fans of the series, he would have had more fun, or at least, they would have had more fun.
Sucks for him cause I’m still really enjoying Brawl.
