guitar-hero-iii-wii-controller-copy.jpg

As we near the release of Guitar Hero: On Tour, news will start-a-pourin’. Activision has released 15 tracks that will be on the latest entry of Guitar Hero; some are okay, some are unexpected, others are … well, I can’t really establish an opinion on them.

Do What You Want - OK Go
All The Small Things - Blink 182
Spiderwebs - No Doubt
Are You Gona Be My Girl - Jet
We’re Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister
All Star - Smash Mouth
Breed - Nirvana
Jessie’s Girl - Rick Springfield
Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benatar
This Love - Maroon 5
Heaven - Los Lonely Boys
Helicopter - Bloc Party
China Grove - The Doobie Brothers
Rock and Roll All Nite - KISS (cover by Line 6)
What I Want - Daughtry

Daughtry? Sigh…

Lapel pins of death… RETURN!

Published by Pete under Corporate/Business, Misc

lapel-pin.jpg

Nintendo released a statement recalling pins that were sold between April 2004 and November 2007 at either the Nintendo World Store in New York or their employee store in Redmond. The pins apparently contain a potentially lethal amount of lead. So if you have been sleeping with your Mario pin in your mouth I would suggest changing your habits, or at least send it in to have it replaced with a toxin free pin. Picture of the evil pins (which I want) and replacement options after the break.

Nintendo Power hints at a big surprise in the near future

Published by Robert under Misc, Nintendoness

nintendo-secret-image-moon.jpg

This months Nintendo Power concluded with that picture of a fiery moon. Below the scan, it says: “As we head into summer, expect things to heat up in the pages of Nintendo Power. July’s issue will include big updates on Ghostbusters, Sonic Chronicles, and Time Hollow. We may even have a surprise or two. Can you find the clues we’ve hidden in the moon? See you in 30!”

Well, get to guessing, Tanooki readers. A new Harvest Moon title would be too easy a guess. Anyone have one of those paper 3D glasses laying around?

Man pays $15,000 for rare gold-colored NES cart

Published by Robert under Nintendoness

15k-nes-cart-resized.jpg How much would you pay for a rare gaming item? $10? $10,000? How about $15,000? James Baker, a video game memorabilia collector, paid $15,000 for only one of the 26 gold-colored NES cartridges in existence today. Manufactured in 1990, these uber-rare gold (not real gold, might I add) cartridges were made for the Nintendo World Championships. Other notable items in his massive collection are the N64DD, NES Deluxe Edition and a mint Atari Pong system.

When asked if he played the game after receiving it he said:

Well, when I first got it we fired it up at the office and played it for a while – and I didn’t even need to blow on the end of it to get it to work. But I have a friend who’s an architect and eventually we’re going to collaborate on building a really cool installation to put it into.

Ahh, I remember the days of blowing into cartridges to get them to work; few years later that myth was refuted on MythBusters.

Earthbound tops wanted VC titles

Published by Pete under Virtual Console

earthbound.jpg

Nintendo recently ran a poll in Nintendo Power asking readers to name their most wanted Virtual Console games. Not so surprisingly, Earthbound landed on the top of the list. More impressively, the Japan-only release of Mother hit number four. With so much love, will Nintendo finally crack under the pressure and release these classics? Probably not. But everyone can dream. Full list after the break.

Wii Ware gives us a way to slaughter Mexican Zoo Animals

Published by Ryan under WiiWare

Is everybody looking forward to future Wii Ware titles? I know that I am definitely looking into a game entitled Animales de la Muerte, developed by High Voltage.

You take on the role of characters Marco and Maria Mendoza, Don Eduardo’s weapon-proficient grandchildren, and bring the fight back to the animals — the zombified ones, anyway. While the two will use a variety of powerful guns and items to mutilate the walking dead, they will also carry with them nets in order to capture and save the animals still unaffected by the outbreak

It looks like Smash TV Hit meets Conker’s Bad Fur Day. This title will definitely use up my hard earned Wii Points. I don’t think that my pet chihuahua “Pancho” will approve.

Are those wascally Raving Rabbids going to use the Wii Balance Board?

Published by Ryan under Wii

Even though Ubisoft’s last Raving Rabbids didn’t bring anything new to the Wii Rabbits franchise, a future outing looks like it might use the Wii Balance Board. While this video doesn’t show any real game footage, it lets us know that Ubisoft is definitely thinking creatively about the potential possibilities.

This doesn’t seem like such a surprise, as it has been stated that there are titles currently in development that will use the Wii Balance Board. Does anybody have any fun mini-game ideas for Raving Rabbids 3, using the coveted Wii Balance board?

Another type of Mario Kart… sort of

Published by Pete under Novelty, Misc

gamecar.jpg

I’m not sure I should admit this, but I had a Pokemon Yellow Game Boy that is the exact same shade as this car. It’s creepy, I can almost see my little trainer leading around Pikachu in the rear window. Either way it’s awesome all the way down to the licence plates, and it has probably had more kids stop to press those over-sized buttons than you could shake a stick at.

Avoiding those pesky POW attacks is oh so easy

Published by Robert under Videos, Wii

One of the first things I hated in Kart was the POW attack; even though I knew it was coming the attack would still assault my mental well being. Shortly after playing, though, I discovered that if you were in mid-air you could dodge it. The video above shows how to dodge it using a well-timed hop, a tip that’ll definitely give people who master it an edge while playing Mario Kart locally or online.

For those of you that figured this out on your own, two points for you.

Cool off with a nice glass of Nintendo

Published by Pete under Arts & Crafts

glass3.jpg

It started with a personalized glass as a birthday present for one of my gamer friends, and from there I couldn’t contain the nerd instincts to make more themed glasses. More designs, Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime to be specific, after the break. Tell me what you think, and any ideas you have for other designs! I’m partial to the Twilight Princess glass, I start off each day with some Lon Lon Milk out of one.
