Rock Band for Wii not so Rock Band after all
Rejoice! Your future Rock Band peripherals will match your Wii’s sexy white color. Unfortunately, aside from the color coordinated peripherals and five Wii-exclusive bonus songs, there’s not much else to write home about when Rock Band finally comes to the Wii in June.
The online multiplayer, character creation (that means no Mii support as well), and most importantly, downloadable content, have all decided to quit the band before the game lands on the Wii. In other words, everything that has made Rock Band… Rock Band, has been stripped away in the port that is more than six months late to the Rock Band party.
While compatibility with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock’s wireless Les Paul controller have also been axed, at least we’ll be getting 480p compatibility and Dolby Pro Logic II support!
Reminder to Harmonix: Dolby Pro Logic II does not mean mono. And while I’m at it, here’s a quick reminder to Nintendo: your awful online philosophy is the reason why Rock Band is going to be severely lacking on the Wii.

Wow.
You see it coming, but it doesn’t hurt any less when it finally hits.. If anything, it hurts more because you held onto that tiny strand of hope, and then Satoru Iwata snips it, laughing and screaming hysterically: “Much more fun this way! HaHaHaHa!!”
In all honesty, the point of the Wii was never to compete with the PS3 or Xbox 360 in terms of graphics or in terms of the amount of in-game content. It was designed to make games fun again. It’s just annoying to see great games get beaten and bruised and then served up for a little cheaper.
I don’t regret buying my Wii, I just think I would have been willing to pay $350 right off the bat instead of $250 so that I could be playing Call of Duty 4, Assassin’s Creed, and a decent version of Guitar Hero III and Rock Band.
You’re missing the biggest one: no Band World Tour mode. It’s the biggest part of Rock Band. Getting rid of world tour would be like releasing Guitar Hero without all of those annoying guitar parts to get in the way. It makes no sense. Without Word Tour there is absolutely no game here — it’s pretty much practice mode.
Yep. It’s sad. The only thing Nintendo lacks is a semi-solid online campaign and they, at least from our standpoint, don’t realize it.
Not buying this anymore.
No Band World Tour mode, no purchase!
I think I’ll stick with GHIII for now, the only thing Rock Band has for its 160$ price tag are the drums, and I already own Donkey Konga
I had no band world tour in my original post, but took it out. I know Harmonix said that the Wii version will be similar to the PS2 version, but they haven’t specifically said “NO Band World Tour”.
Yes, I know it most likely will not be in the Wii version, but a small part of me is hoping that Harmonix will be able to salvage the mode.
Now excuse me as I try contacting Harmonix for an official word on band world tour.
Well crap. I guess I’m sticking with buying the 360 version. If I can’t use this with my GH3 Wii guitar, and it’s as lacking as they say in general, I can’t justify supporting it.
But it is nice that we may not get some of the ‘really great’(I don’t care for the M-rated games) games or some that aren’t as good as its opponets, but at least wii (Pun intended) get games that are exclusive that others won’t get. And they really are much better than PS3 and XBOX 360 games(In my opion. But the Metal Gear Solid games, I’m sure are good.). In your face, PS3 and XBOX 360!
