Stephen Totilo received the rare chance to sit down with both Mario Kart Wii and an insistent Nintendo rep, getting to try out both the Wii Wheel and the Wii Remote alone. Videos of both are after the break. Stephen seems like the Wii Wheel more after trying out both, but you’ll get a chance to see for yourself – and really decide come April.

I wasn’t quite sold on the Wii Wheel before, but after seeing it in action, I’m convinced that “having something to hold” can make it much easier and less awkward for turns, wheelies, what have you. I’m always in favor of newer motion controls for Wii games, but there are some stubborn gamers that never give it a chance – they’ll use the GameCube controller off the bat, and never give the Wii Remote a chance.
