Shantae wishing her way to the Wii?

Published by Nick

shantae.jpg

WayForward, the company responsible for the Game Boy Color title Shantae, may bring the young genie to the Wii. Voldi Way, the founder of WayForward said in an interview that the plan is to bring a new Shantae game to the Wii, following the WiiWare route. Matt Bozon, Creative Director of the girl-genie platformer said back in May 2007:

“…We’ve started to update her design in anticipation of something on Wii, maybe Risky Waters or something similar.”

Shantae’s only appearance was on the Game Boy Color, and a Game Boy Advance Sequel was in development but was eventually scrapped. However, it seems that she will soon make a return.

Thanks to Jeremy for the tip!

Wii Owners May Cry: No DMC for Wii

Published by Ryan

wii_may_cry_edit.jpg

Capcom has officially confirmed that they have no plans to create a Wii edition of Devil May Cry. DMC 4’s lead producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi has stated:

You know, a lot of people ask us if we are going to bring out a Wii version. I simply don’t think you can make the game the type of game it is, with the awesome graphics and control — I don’t think that would work on the Wii. So, I don’t think we’re going to bring one out, no.

Even though he has stated that the Wii doesn’t have the graphical horsepower for a DMC game, why is there a mobile phone version in development? I think that many would agree, that the DMC series would be appreciated on the Wii, if given the chance.

Punch-Out the cold this winter

Published by Ryan

mike_scarf.jpg

Having trouble keeping warm this winter? With the help of Little Mac and Mike Tyson, those cold winter nights shouldn’t be an issue any longer. This scarf was hand crafted by a Nintendo fangirl named “Beatboxtaun”, and is a must have for any fan who wishes that our current Virtual Console Punch Out had Mike Tyson instead of Mr. Dream.

Even though this scarf carries a hefty price tag of $175.00 (which is more than some of Mr. T’s chains), nothing else can give off a sense of intimidation like Mike Tyson. I wonder if she would consider adding the “007 373…” code to the scarf, but then again, I don’t think any of us have forgotten it.

Puzzle Quest takes to the stars in Puzzle Quest: Galactrix

Published by Michael

They’ve done fantasy, and now D3 is tackling the science fiction genre with Puzzle Quest: Galactrix. New in the sequel to Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is a revamped gameplay system featuring hexagonal blocks on a hexagonal field, and that’s about it. Everything about the original has been carefully preserved in Galactrix, including the colored blocks representing different meters. For example, Blue blocks fill up your ship’s shields, Red fills up your weapons meter, etc..

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix is being developed for the Xbox Live Arcade, PC and DS. Check out some screens of the game in action, as well as an assortment of amazing concept art after the break.

Write the (first) Mailbag (of 2008)!

Published by Christian

mailbag_galaxy.jpg

So I’ve been getting random submissions in my inbox labeled “Mailbag” for the last few weeks, and I just now realized: we’ve not done one since the new year. Who’s up for another one? We’ll try to get this one up by next Sunday, March 2nd (since the following Sunday, everyone will be busy playing some other game - probably some Petz game). Of course, that will only happen if we have enough submissions to respond to! So…

Wii System Update 3.2 now available

Published by Christian

080225update.jpg

For those of you who don’t currently have your Wii consoles within your field of vision (shame on you!), it’s probably blinking with the call of a Japanese bush warbler. Why? No, it’s not a Check Mii Out Contest, you actually have a new system update waiting for you.

You can check out the full message after the break, but what Update 3.2 essentially does is allow you to update your Wii console before playing a game that requires newer firmware than you currently have. Might this have to do with Nintendo of America trying to avoid the same bug that Japan suffered with the launch of Brawl? (or one of the bugs, anyway…)

Fiber-optic Nintendo 64 sign…for sale on eBay

Published by Christian

080225nintendosign.jpg

Currently going for just over $102 on eBay is this promotional Nintendo 64 sign from back in the day. Now sure, it’s not hard to get a hold of old promotional signs. Kiosks and fiber-optic signs? Different story.

Of course, you’ll probably have no desire for this sign for anything other than the sheer joy of actually seeing one in person, so feel free to donate it once you’re done admiring it. It would look great in the future The Tanooki offices in Southern California.

Europe to get Super Smash Bros. Brawl this autumn

Published by Christian

080225pikacry.jpg

Those darn production problems. While Europe will be getting the anticipated duo of Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii before the games are released in the United States and Canada, it seems there’s a cost attached: Super Smash Bros. Brawl is on target for a fall release at the earliest in Europe (and likely Australia).

I mean, Nintendo could open up more factories just to meet the insane worldwide demand for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but according to Reggie (NOA), it’s not worth it.
