Confirmed: Okami Wii supports 16:9 widescreen

This story has been kicked around for a little while now, and finally Capcom decided to jump in and deliver a knockout punch to all of the rumor’s: 16:9 widescreen is being supported for the Wii version. As displayed on the Okami Wii page:

  • New Widescreen (16:9) and 480p progressive scan support.
  • Real-time fighting system and special attacks using brush techniques to decimate enemies and solves puzzles.
  • Use innovative controls and the Wii remote to “paint” your desired powers.

    Yeah, even with a regular 16:9 TV, it's a faux widescreen mode. It doesn't stretch or anything you'll just see inklings of black bars on the sides. But like I said, it's pretty negligible and nothing that should detract from a great game like Okami.

    I suppose that also depends on what kind of TV you have. Or are you saying that even with a 16:9 type of TV you would have problems? I honestly don't think it will matter. I watch TV all the time on a widescreen TV and there is almost always bars on the side. You get used to it.

    It should be noted that it's not true 16:9 widescreen, it's more of a quasi-widescreen. You will see "slight" black bars on the edges, but probably not enough to where it's bothersome.
