If you’ve seen the complete character select screen (warning: don’t click if avoiding spoilers) for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, you may notice that the “Random” square in the bottom right is a bit out of place. Perhaps you’ve also noticed it’s in the same column as the only third-party characters in the game, Snake and Sonic. If you’re really good, you’ll notice that most of the ten top-voted characters for inclusion in Brawl from Sakurai/Nintendo’s online poll a few years back are in the game, save for the #1 choice…
Rumors are going around that Geno was initially a playable character on the Brawl roster. For the three of you who don’t know who Geno is, Geno was a character in Nintendo and Square’s Super Mario RPG. Square-Enix owns the character, and unfortunately a copyright dispute forced the original game delay in order to remove Geno from the game.
We’ll probably never know if this rumor is true or not. Will you miss Geno? Thanks to Robert and Val for the tip.
