Published by Christian under Virtual Console

080229palvc.jpg

More games are available on the Virtual Console for Europe and Australia that I’ve never played. However, I’ve heard good things about these games, so maybe you’ve got a few bucks to spare this week and want to try them out.

  • Super Turrican (SNES, 800 Wii Points)
  • Psychosis (TG-16, 600 Wii Points)

Clearly, whoever’s doing this forgot that Electric vs. Electric is not very effective.

The Legend of Zelda: Carrot of Time

Published by matthew under Videos

Talk about a strange day. Not only is it leap day, but we just got a glimpse into an alternate dimension where MacGyver is the star of the Zelda series. Not too shabby at all.

The Treasure Ship #18 (box art)- Happy Leap Day

Published by matthew under The Treasure Ship

18.jpg

Don’t worry, the Treasure Ship didn’t disappear. It just decided to take a slight detour to a land without the internets for a little while. But fear not, because you can expect a steady stream of Treasure Ship goodness until a person is crowned the king of pointless videogame trivia.

Japanese sales figures for February 18-24

Published by Christian under Sales Figures, Nintendo DS, Wii

080228lookingforabrawl.jpg

Once again, no surprises in the Japanese sales charts for another week in February. Wii remained the top selling console and Super Smash Bros. Brawl held on to the No. 1 spot as has been the case the rest of the month. Obviously numbers are slightly down from the previous week, but aside from the DS slipping just under the PSP in sales, the hardware chart is essentially the same.

  • Wii: 63,504 (-15,079)
  • PSP: 53,373 (-6,281)
  • DSL: 50,151 (-12,211)
  • PS3: 14,060 (-3,577)
  • PS2: 9,634 (-1,632)
  • X360: 2,001 (-197)

North American box art for Wii Fit

Published by Christian under Wii

080228wiifitbox.jpg

Wii Fit is less than three months away from release here in the West, and we’re finally getting a look at what the massive box it comes in looks like. It’s got that nice, clean, crisp look that makes people want to buy it - even if they don’t have a Wii yet.

It also makes you want to wear white while you play. Hopefully those shirts and shorts are included in the box.

Z-Camera: the next Wii-Killer

Published by Christian under Wii

What do you imagine to be the next evolution of motion sensing control? How about something that can do what Johnny Lee did by switching the sensor bar and the Wii Remote? Or Cynergy Labs’ recreation of Minority Report controls? How about a camera that does all that, and blows everything the Eye-Toy and Wii Remote can do out of the water?

This little gizmo was seen at GDC last week, and brings several questions to mind: what platform is going to get it first? Could Nintendo simply rip it off for “Wii 2″ or might they take it and build on it further? One thing is for sure, though: Want.

Europe: Solve Battle Revolution puzzles for Event Pokemon

Published by Michael under Nintendo DS, Wii

For those who wanted to take their Pokemon battles to the 3rd dimension, Nintendo has decided to reward each with two “mystery gifts”. The first of two gifts, labeled a shocking secret gift, will be followed in approximately a week and has been labeled a heated secret gift. Without spoiling the identity of each “mystery gift”, I’ll only say that as soon as you unlock one of them, you’ll find you have a pretty good idea about the other one’s identity. As soon as you unlock either, you can then transfer it to your DS with either version of the DS Pokemon games.
