Wii enjoys 8:1 software attach rate in December

The Wii may have had the lowest lifetime software attach rate of all three current-gen home consoles, but that’s because Wii Sports is all the casuals need at the moment. The publishers don’t have to worry, though, because that attach rate is on the rise. The data from December’s NPD report says that an average of 8.11 Wii games were sold for every Wii console, compared to a 7.76 attach rate for Microsoft’s system and 5.04 games for every PS3.

8.11 games for every Wii sold. Do I have eight games yet, not including Wii Sports? *checks* Hm, I’ll pick up Endless Ocean and then I’ll be all caught up.

This number would be significantly lower if Nintendo sold as many Wiis as people wanted to buy.

I’ve had my Wii since launch so I only bought one game during December. However, once February comes around I will be buying at least 2 or 3 more games.
