The ever popular Michael Pachter, analyst for Wedbush Morgan, gives his predictions for the year in the latest issue of EGM magazine. Among those predictions, he explains that while phenomenal Wii sales will continue throughout the year, Nintendo will yield to Sony afterwards.
“I think the Wii momentum will last until the Playstation 3 is under $300, so another year.”
He specifically believes that 2008 will be Sony’s year. It’s hard to know for sure at this point, but Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, and a possible Animal Crossing MMO beg to differ. Also, production costs for the PS3 have halved since launch, but would another $100 cut really come so soon? Would Nintendo follow suit, or would they not even need to?
