Nomura Securities analyst Yuta Sakurai isn’t quite convinced of Pachter’s prediction that the Wii will have one remaining strong year.
“It was an unprecedented winter shopping season for Nintendo… Around 80 per cent of Wii consoles are in family living rooms. The company has managed to embed the system in people’s lifestyles.”
Going off this, Sakurai is expecting that the Wii will surpass the 100 million units sold mark by 2012. If I remember correctly, Satoru Iwata was only shooting for three times the GameCube’s sales, or 60 million total, before the world realized the selling potential of the Wii. Something tells me that no one can really predict how the Wii will hold up.
