Super Mario Galaxy in the running for AIAS awards

Nintendo hasn’t nabbed a Game of the Year award from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences since Ocarina of Time won for 1998 (awarded early 1999). Last year, Gears of War edged out Twilight Princess and WiiSports. The year before that, it was God of War trumping Nintendogs.

This year, the nominees for the 11th annual awards have been announced, and Super Mario Galaxy joins BioShock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Rock Band, and The Orange Box as the choices for Game of the Year. Does Mario have what it takes to win back the award for Nintendo for the first time in nine years?

You can check out the full list of nomination categories where Nintendo has any presence after the break. Make your predictions!
