Super Smash Bros. Brawl is perfect!
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Soulcalibur, Vagrant Story, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Nintendogs, Final Fantasy XI, and, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Those are the only seven games to earn a perfect 40/40 score (aka: the Holy Grail of gaming accolades) from Famitsu.
Honestly, I am extremely surprised at this perfect score. As the third entry into the series, I had my doubts about whether or not the game will feel as fresh and original as the first two titles. Of course, this could still be the situation for reviewers when Brawl finally lands in North America on March 9th, but it’s really hard to look past a perfect score from Famitsu.
Just to think, 24 hours ago, we were agonizing over yet another delay for Brawl. Now it looks like the wait might be well worth it.

spsshh.. damn better well be perfect.
must…have…now…
and how can final fantasy XI get a perfect score like that? i played the game for 2 years and it’s far from perfect. great fun though. man i miss that game…
TRIPLE POST!
Nevermind it was a typo. FFXII got the 40/40 not FFXI =P
I WANTS GAEM
Of course, Famitsu’s ranking is by 4 different people, so it’s not really meant to be a composite score. Also, the “perfect” games are usually just good games that get lucky enough to achieve consensus. Still, good for them.
This makes the delay more painful :(

[...] Super Smash Bros. Brawl receives perfect score from Famitsu As all of you are trying to wait patiently for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Famitsu (a Japanese gaming magazine) has gotten their dirty little hands on it. As seen by their review, Famitsu loved the game! Famitsu has posted a review in their latest issue, giving Super Smash Bros. Brawl a perfect 40/40. Games such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Soulcalibur, Vagrant Story, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Nintendogs, Final Fantasy XI, and, Super Smash Bros. have only gotten perfect scores. Here is what the reviews said about the game: This time single player has tons of content. The adventure mode is quite long and fun. And the story presentation is amazing. As for the fights, with the strong unpredictable factor that comes with final smashes, more than ever we can be excited about matches not being related to skill. The controls and sound are also satisfying. Hats off to Nintendo. Score: 10 The new unpredictable factor that is the final smash allows us to enjoy an amazing effect and refreshing feel from any character. The fights are even more intense. The single player modes are abundant and a plus. The Subspace Emissary Adventure mode movie and action tempo are good and you just forget time while playing. I?m highly satisfied with the game. Score: 10 The powerhouse cast and gimmicks! The dynamic and subtle character moves! The must see final smashes! There are tons of battle stages. The single player mode is also extremely satisfying. There is a stage edit, and you can browse through the detailed information in the game. Score: 10 The moves of the all star roster of characters have been polished, and the addicting one player mode has been perfected. With its outstanding graphics and wonderful ambience, Brawl is an epic game in which you can feel the efforts that went into it. Every time you play it, you’ll discover something new, and you’ll savor both sweet joy and bitter loss when you battle. Score: 10 North America still has to wait two months for Brawl. All I can say that the time is well worth it, from the review. The game is just truly perfect, and once you start (Thought this sounded better) playing it in your homes on March 9th, you guys will never stop playing. The wait is well worth it.
